It feels a bit like the old 1950’s London saying that you wait an hour for a bus and then three arrive. I think the Reserve Bank Governors address was good reading and helped to settle some nerves. Hopefully, JP Landman does the same for you here.
Our President messes with our emotions. He squeaked into power and we were suitably relieved. Ramaphoria did not last long as the grind to fix the Zuma years started. And a grind it was. Replacing The Commissioner at SARS seemed to take an age and the poor temporary chap had his temporary appointment renewed three or four times. We forget that the full democratic process was followed. Would we have been happy if our President appointed positions by Diktat?
The Covid struck and our President was a hero again, even if his ears were too small for his face mask. Then the muddle in the middle started and housewives became bootleggers. And you could buy a vest but not a T shirt. We know the story.
A new low was struck when people stole money from the emergency funds for Covid, and we are suitably enraged. We ask, what has happened about all the promises to end corruption? And when the sound gets loudest, in walks JP Landman to cut to the chase, give us facts, dates and figures and let us sigh with relief.
Attached is JP Landman’s letter for your pleasure. Again, it is good reading.
Stay safe, we do not want a second wave.
